SALI’s System Passed the Seismic Test and “Survived” a Severe Earthquake

12:18 on Jan 23rd, 2013, a 5.1 magnitude quake hit the Liaoyang city, Dengta city and Sujiatun district of Shenyang city, in Liaoning Province. The SALI Video Wall System in the Liaoning Power Plant is still in good condition after the earthquake. The display System played an important role during this incident in electricity supply, safety precaution for the occurrence of secondary disasters, and aiding the earthquake relief and rescue activities.

Liaoning Liaoyang Power Supply Company is a large state-owned power company and supplies electricity to two cities and five major districts, covering a total area of 4,743 square kilometers in the Liaoyang region. To be in line with the fast moving pace of local economy, reconstruction and revitalization of the primitive industrial province, the development power grids faces great challenges. A mature electrical system, advanced information display solution and a number of well-designed system is required, where the heart of all the information is displayed on SALI’s video wall system

The system consists of 18 RGB signals connected through a SALI video wall processor, with extended direct connections through matri switchers.  Another 18 video signal were connected into a SALI video wall processor through a matrix switcher and 2 network interfaces, where all the cabling and system equipment integration are designed to be shockproof, passing seismic tests.  The system stability and reliability had been thoroughly considered when applying various devices, including connector, power design, signal line, pipes, slots, trunking and cabling ducts into the whole system. This is specifically designed to prevent system failure from any unpredictable natural disasters to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

A power supply system is an important part of infrastructure in the national economy and people's livelihood. SALI emphasizes the development and application of vibration isolation with particular focus on the internal light path and circuit structure design of the LED light source module. Thus, internal core wiring and components was protected to maintain the system operation even under seismic activity.

After the disaster, SALI immediately took action and supported the end-user, checking the operation and the equipment performance of the power plant.  SALI’s service and product reliability were recognized by Liaoyang Power Supply Co.

Moreover, it has been verified that SALI’s display system are all in good working condition even after the devastating earthquake in recent years in Wenchuan and Doujiangyan. Playing an important role in the organization and rescue coordination, the state governments appreciate SALI contribution in support the important infrastructure during nature disaster.
